Accepting new patients. BCBS, Moda, Cigna and Pacific Source (employees) insurance.
I am a Board Certified psychiatrist. I provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management and psychotherapy for adults. Appointments include a diagnostic evaluation, medication management, psycho-education and therapy.
I am in network for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Pacific Source, Moda and Cigna. I am otherwise out-of network and take private pay (cash) allowing for further discretion, for which payment is due at time of service.
My practice is streamlined, paperless, with intake forms, screening questionnaires, appointments and medication refills all done at your convenience, online through this website.
Co-payments and billing are done security via my portal. This allows for our face to face time to be maximized for what is important to you. Most communications are done via secure email to allow for a reference of what has been discussed.
My private practice is small, open to a limited number of patients, which allows for greater personalization, flexibility and responsiveness. As such, patients who may need emergency services, case management or more comprehensive care, may be better served by a larger practice.
I offer tele-psychiatry visits for establish patients. After an initial in-person evaluation, follow up visits can be done remotely on a case by case basis.
My approach is integrative, a patient-centered model that considers evidence-based pharmaceutical treatments as well as sociocultural factors, nutritional status, mind-body medicine, and preventative measures. My medical background and training allows me to recognize medical influences affecting one’s mental health. Integration also includes having an open minded approach, looking at inflammatory, biochemical and developmental and traumatic exposures, while being willing to engage in emerging and alternative treatments.
Location: My office is located in a 3 story office building located next to Sellwood Park. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor, which is Suite 300. I am originally from the Midwest, graduating from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2014. I completed my residency at the University of Utah, where I served as a chief resident. My work has included consult and liaison psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, psychiatric emergency rooms, as well as outpatient treatment.
I have an interest in the biology of resilience, and enjoy teaching. I have given lectures to medical students, PA students and community providers on topics such as sleep, capacity, delirium, dementia, personality disorders, psychedelics and substance use. I am currently an assistant professor at OHSU, continuing my work with medical students and residents.
I have training in focused therapy for anxiety, OCD and depression. My therapy approach is existential in basis, utilizing CBT principles and integrating mindfulness practices.
I strive to be practical, thoughtful, while practicing evidence based medicine. My goal is to allow one to be optimally positioned to focus on the psychological and environmental underpinnings of distress. I provide a professional, personalized, private, treatment experience that involves both medication and therapy. My goals of treatment are to be responsive, thoughtful and provide education about disorders and treatment. My prescribing practices include limiting the use of controlled substances.
Depression presents in many forms with biologic and environmental causes. I will work with you to help resolve heart and mind incongruencies, while working to change behaviors that exacerbate negative mood states.
Human connection, purpose, meaning and intention, all conspire to free people. Discovering how to allow these powerful tenets to influence the present moment, can create choice born from awareness, while reducing emotional discomfort.
Anxiety and OCD can be debilitating, an endless feedback loop of physical and mental acts that leaves one feeling frustrated and frozen. Using CBT principles we can work together to decrease your distress and improve your functioning.
